meet max, a handsome lil man. i first photographed him at three months and my oh my, how he has grown! now six months of super cuteness, he is sitting up and playing with toys. he has great eye contact and the sweetest little smile. the youngest of three, baby max is in great company but can definitely hold his own. see for yourself….

one of my new years resolutions for mikifoto is to tap into the teen/senior market. my first love will always be children, but I am also want to grow my business in the older kid market for many reasons. for one, i love fashion! in my previous life, i worked in advertising on beauty campaigns for L’Oreal and Oil of Olay. i loved the clothing and styling and hair and makeup of those photo shoots. i still read hundreds of fashion and beauty magazines and catalogs. they are filled with ideas and inspiration. and with teens, you can have so much fun with clothes and accessories and overall style.

i also think something magical happens with a teen in front of the camera. that age is so fragile and tumultuous and vulnerable. but when you can feel beautiful or attractive, a certain sparkle comes out that oozes confidence. during the session, i’ve witnessed so many teens that all of a sudden stand a bit straighter, hold their chins a big higher and have a new attitude. it’s an amazing transformation!

that all said, i am looking for a few good teens! here are the details…

* must be in high school in the Gainesville area
* must have written permission from your parents to participate
* must be comfortable in front of the camera
* must be open to being styled by me for the perfect outfit that matches your personality
* must be available for an hour shoot somewhere around Gainesville.

it will be fun and spontaneous and fashion-oriented (all age appropriate for those concerned parents). not your usual boring high school portrait! and for those who are selected, the session will be FREE and i will gift you low resolution digital images (watermarked) for your Facebook accounts so you can share with all your friends. plus an 8×10 for mom and dad of your favorite image.

meet the zeig children - sophia, benjamin and jacob. three energizer bunnies under the age of 6. all bubbling with personality. all fans of anything chocolate. all moving at the speed of light. we had a blast running around haile village and these little ones kept me going. the boys loved to bolt as much as they loved to eat their lollipops. and big sister sophia was so helpful, so sweet and oh so beautiful. look at the eyes on this young lady. all in all, a fun-filled non-stop whirlwind of a shoot.

another photography round with two of my favorite kiddos…matthew and katie kim. matthew is a close friend of my boys. they adore him. probably because he’s super smart, a Wii whiz, an expert climber and all around good fun. then there is sweet and sassy katie. her honest and hysterical commentary has its own following on facebook. and with just one look at her dancing eyes and deep dimples, your face is sure to break out in smile.

put them together and you have quite the dynamic duo. a brother and sister synergy. a loving connection. mom and dad have done good with these dark haired cuties. take a look at their sneak peak photographed at kanapaha park….

this family has a special place in my heart. a year ago, i was new to gainesville and thinking about how i was going to start my photography business up again. my new friend, stacey, welcomed me into her home and let me photograph her beautiful babies. then she was kind enough to spread the word about me. she truly helped get the ball rolling on my business. and i am oh so grateful.

fast forward a year and here we are again with her cuties for their holiday session. we decided to try kanapaha park and it was the perfect backdrop. mac and logan climbed trees and rocks (plus a bit of wrestling in swampy grass) with all their big boy energy. sweet lil maggie charmed my camera with her sparkly blue eyes and shy smile. the light was gorgeously golden. and the wardrobe that stacey selected was right on - bright, bold and youthful. and don’t forget, winnie! their lovable dog that is a true member of the family.

all in all, a fun and lively session. here’s the fogler sneak peak….

when i found out the ginder family won my photography session at the Gainesville Country Day School’s silent auction, i was thrilled for so many reasons.
first, they are a beautiful family. blue eyes that stop you in your tracks. smiles that light up the room. casual and warm and welcoming. second, they have boys - lee (age 9) and dale (age 7). and i get and LOVE boys. all the rough play, potty humor, sports talk. the bond of brotherhood. and last, they live and love in the moment. they cherish every hug and kiss and laugh. not only could i see that behind my lens, but i could feel it in every image.  and when i asked them what they love most about their family, mom said it best, “that we are always together”  they are a family dedicated to each other and their cause, cure dale’s duchenne.

this photography session touched my heart and i thank the wonderful ginder family for this opportunity!  hope you enjoy your sneak peak….

isn’t the weather just amazing here in gainesville? starting to feel crisp yet still warm and sunny. i can pull out my light sweaters and continue to wear my flip flops. heaven!!!
